About the Watch
First introduced in 2002, the Diaphane quickly gained cult status with its fusion of lightweight materials such as aluminum and its futuristic, embedded case that recalls space travelling. As the name indicates, the model stands for transparency and luminescence, through the clear view of the mechanical movement and the play of light on the frosted semi-transparent casing. The Diaphane models are considered rare, limited, and also pioneering. Among the models is the Diaphane One, a Carroussel Tourbillon whose moement was developed by Jaeger LeCoultre. The most complex Swatch ever made.
About the Brand
Swatch is a famous Swiss watch brand founded in 1983 by Nicolas Hayek and a subsidiary of The Swatch Group. The Swatch product line was developed as a response to the "quartz crisis" of the 1970s and 1980s, in which Asian-made digital watches were competing against traditional European-made mechanical watches. The name Swatch is a contraction of "second watch", as the watches were intended as casual, disposable accessories.
