The Rolex Zephyr is a particular style of vintage Oyster Perpetual watch that sports a distinct dial design and bezel style. The Zephyr dial features a cross-hair motif that divides the dial into four different sections. Since the Oyster Perpetual is a time-only Rolex model, void of any date windows, the dial is beautifully symmetrical and appealing simple. Another characteristic of the Zephyr dial are the small tritium lume plots that act as hour markers, accompanied by the “T SWISS T” label just above 6 o’clock. In the middle of the 1950s, Rolex started producing the Oyster Perpetual Zephyr, beginning with the ref. 6582, which was powered by the Caliber 1030 self-winding movement. The dial featured center hands in the dauphine style, which was common for the time. In the late 1950s, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Zephyr ref. 1008 was released as a follow-up. This model features a smaller winding crown and an updated Caliber 1560 automatic movement. In the middle of the 1960s, some models were furthermore outfitted with a Caliber 1570 movement and the use of other hands like the Lancette hands became fashionable

At a 2013 sale in Geneva, for example, a Daytona Chronograph in steel achieved an absolute record price of US$ 1.1 million. The brand hones its image through associations with prominent and well-respected personalities chosen from the arts and sports. Also, in 1976 Rolex launched its Awards for Enterprise which each year single out innovative projects that promote sustainable development.
