About the Watch

In the early 1960s, Omega introduced the 'De Ville' initially as part of the Seamaster series, later evolving into the 'Seamaster De Ville,' and eventually, in 1967, as its standalone collection due to its growing popularity. The De Ville became highly sought-after for its sleek design and reliable mechanical movements. In the 1970s, it earned prestigious awards, including the Grand Prize 'Triumph of European Excellence' and six 'Six Golden Roses' at the Baden-Baden Design Awards. Skipping forward two decades, the early 1990s saw the launch of the first central tourbillon in an Omega De Ville, known as 'Project 33' or 'P33,' commemorating Omega's 100th anniversary. Led by Moritz Grimm and André Beyner since 1991, the challenging technical project drew inspiration from Omega's archives and was completed in 1994. In 1999, the Omega De Ville made history again by being the first model to feature the innovative Omega Caliber 2500, introducing the co-axial escapement at Baselworld. Since its inception in the 1960s, the De Ville has consistently marked horological milestones for Omega, winning awards, adopting top-tier movements, and pioneering groundbreaking concepts like the central tourbillon and co-axial escapement. Today, the De Ville remains a central and remarkable component of the Omega lineup, maintaining design inspiration from its predecessors.

About the Brand

Omega has constantly been defined by its pioneering spirit, demonstrated by its conquests of the oceans as well as space. Since 1965, the Omega Speedmaster has been worn on each of NASA's piloted missions including all six moon landings and many of history’s greatest explorations beyond Earth. Omega also has served as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932. In watchmaking, Omega’s history has been dedicated to a quest for perfection. This legacy continued in 1999 with the launch of the revolutionary Co-Axial escapement and, in 2015, with the world’s first Master Chronometer. Approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
